Fuse box multi block

Could someone please tell me what this multi plugs runs?
I’m updating the leisure battery wiring and there is a wire spliced into this multi plug from previous battery installation.

The white / green is heated rear window / demister.

The red is for interior lights, radio and cig lighter.

You sir are an absolute star ⭐️ so the way it was originally wired is correct for what’s required off leisure battery once starter battery is switched off?Does the digital clock run off this same circuit?

If you are looking at the CE1 (Later Electrics) wiring diagrams,

This connector is identified as T2c.

According to my 1987 model year diagram, that red does feed the digital clock on the instrument panel.

I would agree that wiring the radio, cig lighter and clock off the leisure battery, will reduce drain on the starter battery.

Only ask as stereo, interior lighting and cig lighter work with this wire connected the way it is but the digital clock doesn’t even thou I’ve installed a new LCD screen?

Okay -

There are two parts to T2c

The fusebox side of the red is fed from fuse 3 in the main fusebox.
The clock is on this side of the connection along with the radio

The body loom side goes off to the interior lights and cigar lighter.

So my guess is that the body loom side is fed from the leisure battery.
But the fusebox side (and clock) is fed from the starter battery.

It is common practice to move the radio feed to the leisure battery, as the radio is the most common cause of a flat starter battery.

That’s great info👍would it be another red wire that runs the digital clock then on the fuse box side?

Okay let's see.

Fuse Box side of the two pin connector.

Instrument cluster -T14/5
Permanent live to digital clock.
0.5mm red wire.
This should go to the radio T8/7

From the radio T8/7
Permanent live
1.5mm red wide
This goes to the Fuse box side of the two pin connector T2C/1

This goes to the Fusebox
1.5mm red wire to fusebox plug B, pin 12 (B12).

--------------------------------

The cigar lighter has it's own 1.5mm red wire feed from fusebox plug B, pin 11 (B11).

---------------------------------

T2C/2 - white green is the rear window demister wire from the switch.

---‐------------------------------

Body Loom Side Connector

T2C/1
0.5mm red wire to illuminated sun visors.
And
0.5mm red wire to interior / courtesy lights.

T2C/2
White green wire out to the window demister element.

-------------------------------------

So returning to your dead clock query...

I am guessing here, as I cannot physically see for myself.

The red wire for the radio must have been cut for connection to the leisure battery.
I can only assume that a previous owner failed to reconnect the clock wire to the fusebox side of T2C/1.

------------------------

It would have been more appropriate to remove the Fuse from position 3.
And leave the wires from B12 to T2C/1 alone.

Then connect the leisure battery red wire to the fused side of the fuse 3 position.
Via a suitable sized fuse, of course.

-------------------
Final thought - have you checked for 12 volts at the instrument panel connector?
T14 pin 5 (red wire).

The blue foil circuit boards can (and do) fail with age.
So any connection within the foil to the clock could have failed.

We can assume the ground connection on T14/3 is okay, otherwise other parts of the instruments would be affected.

I see the matching plug going across the back of the plug in your photo.

I can see a red wire and a white green wire.

What wires are in the plug connected to the "matching" plug.

And a disconnected bullet connector below that.

I’ve had a upgraded binnacle loom put in a while back. When the guy had it for test he sent me photos of it all working including the clock.I’ve not unplugged the bullet connector as yet but will try tomorrow and plug into lower empty bullet to see if that fixes clock. If that fixes clock I can get piggy back fuse holder for fuse 3 and wire to leisure battery that way.
I’ll let you know on results tomorrow, thanks again for your help👍

Also robsey this white/ blue and brown multi plug wires go into back of a stereo iso? From there it goes back to loom and splits to brake fluid reservoir and a relay mounted on A pillar under dash.

The plug - centre left, is the very early radio connector.
For mono radio with centre dash speaker.

Grey / blue on the van (all years), is the dimmable illumination for the dash switches and instrument panel.
Radio Plug T8 / 6

Brown on all vans is ground.
Radio Plug T8 / 8

Brown with a coloured stripe is a switched ground or signal / sensor ground.

Continuing on

Battery Live Connection - red wire from fuse 3
Radio Plug T8 / 7

The wires in your query are the speaker wires for a mono radio dash speaker.

Both go to a plug at the centre, rear of the dash.

White / Blue
Radio Plug T8 / 1 to T2v / 1 = speaker +

Brown
Radio Plug T8 / 2 to T2v / 2 = speaker -

Beyond T2v, the diagrams do not show any connection.

I suspect the previous owner fitted a proper two part ISO connector for a more modern stereo head-unit.
Therefore the original connector will either have been bypassed, or plugged into an adaptor for the lator ISO plug.

Thanks ever so much robsey.I’m guessing 33 years of owners chopping and changing stereo and speakers is no help.I’m changing heater fan and putting in proper split charger for leisure battery so have everything out which makes access easy to tackle the wiring.I was just unsure on a couple of the wiring issues.
It does look better from the outside thou👍

Nice looking van.

You cannot beat stripping the whole interior out for finding old wiring (including bodges),
And planning and fitting any repairs and upgrades.

If it helps, here is a link to my fusebox pin-out.

Yeah you’re right on that regarding the old wiring,it’s got wiring to a propex heater under back seat and some of the small hella 12 volt sockets in back of seat supports.
All being taken out and replaced with fresh wiring and a decent split charger.

I’m thinking 17 amp cable for most of it that needs replacing, could you recommend somewhere for quality wire?

Cheers for all your help robsey👍
