gear linkage - play - at gearbox end

Big lumps of metals and spanners. Including servicing and fluids.

gear linkage - play - at gearbox end

Post by Jim San »

(Diesel Syncro)

How much play should there be in the gear selection rod (long section) going through the T-section into the box? At a guess mine has about 5mm up and down and left and right.
I don't usually find gear selection difficult, however recently, on occasions, particularly into 4th I have had to be more mindful of engaging the gear.

I've also noticed a 'snatching' sensation when lifting off or putting the power on - very controlled progessive throttle use smoothes it out.

I had a clamber under and levered against the nose of the gearbox, it moved a bit and the mounts 'looked' ok
