Effects of hot weather

———-Yesterday afternoon on the hottest day of the year I did an experiment to see what temperature our mini cooler could achieve , in the shade in our garden the temperature peaked at 37 c and dropped to about 32c by the end of my experiment.

—————————-Our van is a white tin top with limo black windows and I was surprised that leaving the van shut up all afternoon only resulted in the the temperature at floor level ( where our cooler is) being about 2c above the outside temperature.

—————————-After about 4 hours I opened the cooler and the temperature was +18c and my can of drink felt considerably cooler than other cans I left standing near the cooler. I have a feeling a tub of butter may have been looking rather sorry for itself!

——————————In the evening we went out in our grey/silver Nissan qashqai which had been shut up all day —————.Attention was drawn to the can of drink in the glove box due to liquid dripping on my better half’s feet!———-It appears the liquid had expanded until it had no space to go so the can split!

—————————-I have just realised that I have some of these gas canisters in our t25 below the bed and in a wooden cabinet . Reading the warnings on the side ,it warns maximum temperature 50c.Glad I don’t have a dark coloured van!

Not the same thing as a car but when I fetched the min /max thermometer from the greenhouse it had gone past the scale at about 60 c.
