Good point Stu. I'm not sure how vital. Perhaps you'd get fuel starvation or something without it?

E D I T: And now I am thinking the throttle cable would need to be changed too?

Oh yes.
Personally l would consider running a carb with the 2.1. So much easier.

I seem to recall I replaced the fuel tank on my DJ caravelle with a carby tank "to get me by for a while" and it was absolutely fine and I used to hot rod that thing around.

Although I think the fuel hose connectors might have been a different diameter. It was a long time ago.

Just for the record (temporarily...after blowing the 2.1) lm running an early DG1900 with late cooling system and Digijet. No second oil pressure buzzer.
With the auto box it is a bit slow and gutless compared to the 2.1. But all l need for the time being.
lm using E10 unleaded timed at 5-6 degrees. Im considering using E5 for a trip to Yorkshire next week (300 miles) but uncertain to just leave timing where it is or move to 7-8 degrees?

Hmmm. The fuel types confuse me.
A few people have mentioned altering timing when using different grades of fuels. I will be honest I feel like it goes over my head Image

Me too. .
The manual says DJ timed at 10 degrees can run on E5 or super unleaded. Equally okay with 5 degrees when running E10 normal petrol. There is a small loss in power. Yet not really noticeable unless gunning it.
As my camper runs an auto box l tend to treat any acceleration with a light right foot.
I have driven a manual DJ2.1 using super and it went like a scolded cat. Really, really good power, changing into fifth at close to 70mph! Another camper l wish l had kept.

I sense and Auto to Manual conversion in the works for you Stu

:ok
Yeah. Feed pipe thicker diameter to keep pressure in fuel pump perhaps?

Apparently not that difficult for an average engineer/mechanic type bod. So that counts me out. :rofl
But that is likely what l would do if the transmission fails.

For reference. I have been talking to this fella Stu. And he can rebuild auto boxes. My van is going to him at the end of the month to sort a leak on my auto box.  https://t2five.com/

Question time....

I have added a few more bits to the growing pile, and noticed something odd with the plastic connection between throttle housing and Air Filter and AFM.

See pics. The odd thing is, there is what appears to be a 'heater' with part number 025 906 391A on it.
When I look at the Haynes manual, or other online documentation, this part doesn't appear on any DJ material.

Was this used for a Digifant vehicle perhaps?
Thoughts?
