Indicator issue - Arghh

Post by Stokie1403 »

Hi all,
Firstly, thanks for any help/advice I’m a total novice and learning as I go. However electrical issues have me totally stuck

After getting my van out of winter storage did the usual checks and all seemed fine until I checked the indicators.

1st issue - one indicator is fine the other is extremely dull (I’ve swapped the bulbs and this made no difference) (video link below)

2nd issue - when the sidelights/headlights are on and you put the indicator on it flashes the wrong bulb on the passenger side (video link below)

Any input will be greatly appreciated and sorry if this is a very basic issue

Cheers
Jack

As David says clean your earth connections and earth crown, maybe worth checking and cleaning the connections on the bulb side as well.

If the battery voltage was low enough to affect the indicators then it would not start.

I had weird indicators after doing some work on my van, fine before. Spent ages faffing and nothing fixed it. Just be coincidence i started the van for another reason. Indicators fixed so i assumed poor voltage but van still started

Passenger side earth.

Not had mine long so I don't know exactly how they are wired, but it must be the earth because current (amps) is flowing backwards through a different bulb.

Definitely earth...

Could easily be corroded spades on the bulb holders,
Mine were completely rotten when I first took the van on.
I eventually replaced over 50 connectors on the van's loom due to rust or verdi-gris.
