leisure battery for T25 pop top 1984

Post by Siobhan »

Anyone got any idea whether I will be able to source a new leisure battery? Apparently nobody makes one that fits and car batteries are too big? Mine is still working.....just but not much life in her.

Where is your leisure battery located? As a general rule they are bigger than normal batteries.

If it’s under the passenger seat then the size in terms of height is crucial, try a search on the site for battery size or leisure battery, may even be in the wiki

I’ve got a new one you can have. It’s 175mm high.

Hi,
It's no problem to find one that will fit - You'll want one 175mm high or less, but check and measure your space obviously. I've used Alpha Batteries over the years; massive range and good service: https://www.alpha-batteries.co.uk/

You'll find one for sure,

Thanks everyone. The battery is under the passenger seat. I thought Mike just said its 16.2 to 17.5 is going to be too big I think? I will measure but it's not a simple solution to just go and buy one as the caravan service guy is very experienced and couldn't find one on Friday but said he will keep looking. Stuart says he has used an old Corsa battery so perhaps trying to get an old car battery is the answer?

IIRC there was a post not that long ago about the difference with leisure and car batteries.
The car battery is designed for large burst of power to starter motor to get our engines going.
Where the leisure batery is designed for trickle feed to all our small powered appliances, lights, fans, fridges etc.
Don't think, (correct me if I'm wrong), that car battery will be much good.
Prepare for the worst but hope for the best

I think car battery is OK to use as only the lights are running off it. Have been told the fridge runs off the alternator and van battery and other times I will be hooked up to hook up.

Double0Seven I will send you private message as I think it's a fabulous offer from you!! :D

This is picture of mine - there is a metal plate fixed below but I think the 175mm will still fit as my batter is only 170mm high.Image

I need a battery that is 170mm or less as that is what my current one is. It is in a hinged lid so any bigger and the lid won't close and then the seat won't pull back into position! A car battery that fits would be fine as it only runs the water pump and internal lights.
