Fuel tank breather leak

Post by T25Convert »

I have a new tank fitted to the van. If you brim the tank, it leaks through the rubber seal between the breather pipe and top of the tank - part 6 on this diagram: https://www.brickwerks.co.uk/brickwerks ... -gubbings/

I've tried a new seal and gently repositioning the whole lot, but it still leaks.

Given that each drip is now worth about £20 (not to mention the slight fire risk of having petrol dripping out) does anyone have any suggestions? I'm tempted towards a good smear of fuel proof sealant over the top.

I know an easy fix is not to brim it, but about to go away doing high mileage (up to northern Finland) so just want to be able to fill it to the top each time I stop....
