Syncropendence 2022 Dates and Place
Okay what, if anything, do people want to do this year, where and when; all ideas and suggestions welcome, volunteers to help organise and run the event welcome, don't be shy, everyone is welcome to muck in and participate, the more the merrier
did I say welcome too many times ? well that's because that was the usp and whole raison d'etre of club80-90, 2wd welcome, shed draggers, other 4x4s etc.......

Re: Syncropendence 2022
The late August date is much more family/school friendly than the old in-term early July one, if the club wants a broader appeal imho. I have no idea about other shows or calendar fixtures.
Re: Syncropendence 2022
Hey Aidan - if conditions allow and people think it's a good idea I volunteer to operate a barbeque. Bring some Brazilian skills to the event. Last time also discussed with Clive I could do a survival skills workshop.

tidy Fabio, you should liase with the braai man Russel
we used to have a bbq at every event but finding a volunteer to clean it afterwards was the big issue, seems less appealing in the cold light of day with a hangover, but peeps were keen to throw stuff on in the evening
no sheep rustling mind, we might upset Peter if the lambs disappear

Re: Syncropendence 2022
What's this hangover thing? Oh yes, the reason I quit drinking in November.
No, I am not cleaning a dead animal greasy bbq by the cold light of day.
Might be able to bring/borrow the 718K, my mate's wife is expecting in July so he wont use it for the next 5 years

Re: Syncropendence 2022
grill is optional really, can go the old fashion way and burn the whole bbq at the end. this is what they do in the border with argentina.

Re: Syncropendence 2022
We found the later date an absolute pain with traffic. Took us over double the normal travel time to get there. Speaking to people there last year revealed we were not the only ones.

Re: Syncropendence 2022
Good point, the last weekend in August is a travel nightmare. But the old date was difficult for anyone with school-age kids because it was in-term.
Doesnt bother me thes days and didnt bother a lot of others with grown-up kids in past years but it always felt a little bit discriminatory for those with young families.
If you live in the south east its a 5-7 hour drive with a fair wind and thats not funny with youngsters.

Re: Syncropendence 2022
Where is the real Aidan Talbot and what have you done to him?
Whilst I appreciate that all things must change, the idea of SP being somewhere else is hard to imagine.
Where/how would a venue with such unique privileges be found elswhere?

Re: Syncropendence 2022
I am determined to attend this year... It's been too long!
Might tempt a buddy with a 2WD along.
If it is in term time I would probably have to come without Rose and Sam as they both go to school (rose learns, Sam tries to teach).
Cheers!
P.s I personally think it would be crazy to change venue.
P.p.s I would love to help out in some way, but I have no skills, in, well, anything really...
P.p.p.s it would be great to have a 'Recovery how to'... Different winches, hand and motorised, straps and safety etc... I could supply some of the equipment...

Re: Syncropendence 2022
7hrs from east Kent ? Double Figures is more likely. Wales won’t be going anywhere soon so looking at other options is worthwhile .
Re: Syncropendence 2022
Wales has always been a good area for people comming from far flung areas. Keeps it in the middle.
Edinburgh or Glasgow it 8 hours.

Re: Syncropendence 2022
A weekend that falls within the school holidays, but without a bank holiday, could keep it more open to families and avoid bank holiday traffic.
Finding a venue to match Llanfyllin would be a tall order, it really is an amazing spot.
Sorry I can’t be of much assistance this year, we are expecting our first at the beginning of June so it could be 2023 before I get back, although I will do my best to slip over for the weekend!
