Side window aperture sizing

Post by BigBlueVan »

Hi All,

Is there a rule of thumb regarding the size difference between the glass and the opening for windows on a panel Van conversion. E.g. 10mm all round etc...

Does the type of seal used have an impact on the size difference?

My sliding door has been badly repaired at some point, the opening is still oversized so would be nice to repair to the correct size.

Thanks.

7mm is about the standard gap between panel and glass l seem to recall.
So a 200mm by 100mm piece of glass requires a hole 214mm by 114mm.

Claytonrite seals with rubber beading are mostly used. Approx. 1.6mm metal. 5mm glass. 7mm web.
