I think it’s the oil breather hose, but not sure. Pretty certain someone will be able to tell us

So that should be easy to remedy at least. Although I guess it might want a catch can inline to stop it gunking up the carb.

Yes I think that pancake will have to be swapped when the inlet manifold does. To enable bolting of a weber or pierburg. But if it does fit I'll be tempted to try it. See which bits I end up with first.

It's a weird one CT needs no bolts, Solex carb is one bolt and Pierberg 3 bolts. For a long time mine was held on with a cable tie because I had a Pict 4 not a Pict 5.

Yes mine is just a jubilee clip arrangement ! But works OK .

Next question,
Whilst hunting for a carb, either pierburg or weber. I started to look a bit at dizzys.

Now , I read somewhere that the single vac arrangement offered by the 009 is not optimum but more of a satisfactory resolution....if tuned correctly.

So, I assume that neither pierburg or weber support the vacuum/timing arrangement.
Remember , I'm a novice , so you might have to bear with me.
But my current dizzy only has 1 vacuum hose on it I believe, so does that mean I'm already in this position anyway?

Just trying to avoid any decrease in performance, ...or blowing it up.
I hope to engage a competent work colleague at the critical end of the job to minimise risk of self destruction!

The 009 has no vacuum advance, only centrifugal. It is not a good thing.

If you look at my earlier pictures my dizzy supports vacuum with pierburg carb. You can see the pipe coming from the dizzy in the top looking one. What you can’t see is where it goes. But here is an exploded picture of the carb

So, is there a better alternative?
Does the pierburg or weber support vacuum advance? Or an alternative carb for the 1.9 dg?

OK thanks jeffroo, so it should just be a case of ensuring a dizzy with vac advance is used.

To clarify.
If its a single vac unit , is that vac advance with no retard?
Or is that vac retard with centrifugal advance.

And if the dizzy has no vac at all, then it is centrifugal advance only?

My dizzy has a single vac.... which has been working fine, I think. So what is it about changing the carb that means I need to change the dizzy .?

You are getting v close to my knowledge limits. My dizzy has a vac on it that connects to the back of the carb. In itcheys site https://itchyfeetuk.wordpress.com/1-9-d ... itchyinfo/ there is some great info on pierburg carb. It might help?
