Saab 9000 Seat fitting - Finished at last!

Just won these Saab 9000 leather seats on fleabay at the VERY last second

Are they fairly aasy to fit. I have the runners off my old seats?

Would I be able to wire in the heated seat loom also?

wiring in the heaters is easy.

just bolt them in, don't use your
old runners, too much hassle.
should take about 1/2 hour a seat.

Certainly.

An exact same pair went for £62 last week in the NW area. Wasn't after any then though.....kind of a this week decision

they're supplied with runners,
the release is the level you can
see at the base, bolt through the
runners, if you were closer i'd
give you a hand, easy job, honest !

to do the heated elements you'll
need switches, a positive and a
negative, i'm sure you'll figure
it out soon enough, might be worth
hitting Maplins for relays with
a timer too.

Picked the seats up today and the runners on the seats are wider than the seatbase in the van. They are also wider than my swivelbase (original westfalia type).

How do i go about bolting them in?

Any ideas peeps?

Managed to fit the passenger seat to the swivel base today. I fabricated some brackets in order to bolt it to the base as the runners are wider than the standard seats. Will be fitting the drivers seat in the new year using the same principle by bolting it to the original seat base box.

You have done a really tidy job there, it looks good and I bet its a lot more comfortable, a worthwhile upgrade. Cheers for the pics.

i've got full leccy saab seats in a 75 devon the heat pad is very welcome on a cold morning. if you need help wiring them in let me know and i'll have a look at ours. i'm about to fit volvo 940 seats into my crewie over christmas

Thank you, i have just bought exactly the same seats on an internet auctin for about 25 quid the pair. (in Poland).
I was worried about fitting them as spent most of last weekeng changing my wifes seats in an Alfa Romeo. HELL!!

Pleased to see it looks like an easy job.
The pictures were great, looks fab.

Wiring the seats

The heating elements are thermostatically controlled by the special control units, using sensors fitted inside the seats. The controls units have four positions, off and three heat levels, and they have the following connections (from a message on a Saab Forum):

2: +12V from the fuse box - Yellow wire
6: Thermostat - Blue wire
7: Illumination - White/brown wire
9: Ground - Black wire
10: Heating element - White/yellow wire

The wiring coming from the seat is as follows:

Thermostat - Blue x2 (one to control switch , one to ground)
Heating element - Yellow x2 (one to control switch, one to ground)[/url]

Dave, above is another pic showing how I attatched the seats. Luckily the u piece I made fit snugly between the slots in the original runners with bushes underneath to prevent crushing when bolted (steel thickness was around 3-4mm). I put double nuts on to prevent them vibrating loose.

Was an easier job for me to drill the swivel base seeing as I work for a large military engineering firm and have access to a big pillar drill. The drivers side will be trickier as I will be drilling in situ
