Painting the fuel tank.

Afternoon Club 18-30......!!

Having had the tank out to get my new steel coolant pipes over it, I am wondering what I should `paint` it with?
Any normal paint, or do I go the underseal route?

It is getting a little crusty and now the hoses and what-not are going to be re-freshed, I don't want to take it out any time soon..!!

wire brush "vigorously" then vactan or eq the rusty stuff then paint it then use a waxoyle product or a UB like dynax. defo wouldnt make it sweat under a load a underseal , oh and by refresh you mean replace ?

I'd go the Dynax route Smiffo, it's brilliant stuff. I use s50 everywhere I can at the moment just to hold back the tin worm as much as possible. You could also use UB or UC as well:

Now, I bought a new tank instead of prepping mine.
it's painted all silver and that, but wondering if it's best to treat this one anyway?
( Obvious answer really. )

Anyway, the question also occurred to me - why isn't there a plastic tank available?
Seems rather odd to put another metal one in, especially as they are known to rot out.

Any particular reason for no plastic ones being available?

No doubt the market for our tanks is not big enough to justify making them.

I would think that a new tank would require extensive testing and certification.

Shame though, I would rather have a plastic one - if it were safe..!!
