Eberspacher d2 won't work
Hi All,
Just wondered if there were any Eber experts out there that can help.
My Airtronic d2 won't start - when it gets a signal to fire up from the yellow wire it will click only once - continued attempts to fire don't give anymore clicking. when you take power off the main unit it clicks again - they when attempting to fire (once rebooted so to speak), it will click once again.
Could the Ecu be in lock out ?
Thanks in advance
Steve

Re: Eberspacher d2 won't work
On start up the indicator light illuminates and the following
sequences take place:
• Control unit does a systems check of the glow pin, flame
sensor/temperature sensor, fuel metering pump and control
unit.
• Glow pin is energized and starts preheating the combustion
chamber.
• Blower starts slowly and begins to accelerate.
• After a delay (approx. 20 seconds) the fuel pump delivers
fuel.
• Ignition will take place as the fuel/air mixture begins to
burn.
• Blower speed and fuel delivery are slowly increased.
• Once flame sensor has detected a flame the glow pin will
switch off, after approx. 15 secs.
• After another 120 secs., heater will have reached maximum
power.
If you are getting nothing after switch on it will mean it has failed the component test - first in list. So check each of them against the values in the manual.Pages 25 and 26 of the manual. Including voltage at the heater

In that case it would be better if you put up some pics of what components you have, the connections that you have made and what controller you are using.

Re: Eberspacher d2 won't work
If all the components are within the specs from the manual you could try earthing the brown and white that goes from 6 to 1 on the rheostat (it isn't a thermostat). That has solved one problem like that for me in the past. Have you connected the brown/white and the grey/red?
It is no use chasing around too much until you have made the first checks on the components.

Re: Eberspacher d2 won't work
Hi
Will try grounding those wires - with everything connected I assume I'm supposed to have light illuminated in the middle of the rotary switch but it isn't ??
Yes the brown/White is connected from term 1 on the controller to term 6 on the heater and red / green is connected from term 2 on controller to term 7 on heater
Help so far is greatly appreciated - just hope I don't need a new Ecu !,
Ta

Re: Eberspacher d2 won't work
Hi,
I'm confused now ??
I did as you said and grounded the brown/white wire and connected all the others as per our previous correspondence and now I get a green light illuminated on the rotary rheostat when it is in the clicked off position - when I turn it clockwise it clicks and the green light goes off. If I turn it one more click it allows me to turn the controller knob all the way around but the light still stays off with nothing happening at the heater ?
Surely the green light should be on -
Thanks for any help in anticipation

Re: Eberspacher d2 won't work
Right - ignore earthing now and do the first checks.

Re: Eberspacher d2 won't work
Weird !
With the Earth disconnected from the brown / white wire (and the rest of the wiring as before) the green lamp is now still illuminated when in the off position.
Checked 12v is OK to heater on +ve and -ve but no voltage from yellow from controller when either off ( with green light on ) or on (with green light off )
Mystified !

Re: Eberspacher d2 won't work
Hi,
Partial success !
When I short out the yellow wire it activates the fan after a few seconds delay.
This runs and speeds up but the diesel pump doesn't kick in - checked if there is volts getting to the pump and nothing seems to getting to the pump after 20 secs or so of running - pump is connected to earth and red / green wire.
Pump is ok and pulses when tested with 12 v separately
Any suggestions
Cheers
Steve

Re: Eberspacher d2 won't work
Follow the check list - the manual describes exactly that scenario and timing. No. 2 on the list.
