Core Plug Popped On Today's Trip To Belgium

Hi, I wonder if anyone can advise. The family were all packed up and set for a ten day trip to Belgium in our '87 W/C 1.9 Petrol T25 when our core plug popped five junctions around the M25 earlier today. Thankfully it wasn't anything more serious and the garage says if I can find one quicker than them (Friday) they can fit it ASAP and we can salvage a holiday. The garage quoted a part number of N01191410 which I can't find anywhere but have ordered Part Number 012VG0020 from GSF whose website says this is the part.
Can anyone please inform me if this part is infact correct before I set off at high speed first thing in the morning to collect?

All I can say is that on checking the part numbers is that they are both 24mm, look the same and are for vw/audis so there is a good chance it is the same. (I know nothing about those petrol engines)

As far as I know core plugs are universal and readily available, just measured a head and its a smidge over 24mm so not sure if it's 24 or 25mm you need but any garage should be able to measure and buy one from local motor factors, asking you to source is just lazy.

one of the core plugs in the head has a threaded hole to drain the coolant right out but I doubt anybody ever uses them and you can just fit a normal plug there.

WBX uses same size on heads & carb inlet manifold (5 required in total)
I guess its rotted through rather than fell out?

Tune in tomorrow morning about 8am, I have a duff head at work will try and hook a plug out and do a better measure.

Araldited a 2p coin into a corroded core plug on a mates 3.5 PI Rover a long time ago (30 years).

Worked fine.

Think you are confusing the Triumph 2.5 PI and the Rover 3500 (Vitesse has efi post '86 iirc)

Oops Rover P5 (Buick) lasted a couple of years whilst he had the car.

core plug measures just over 24mm hole measures 24mm so 24mm it is

Make sure you (they) bleed it correctly afterwards. Details on how to in the wiki.

Araldite is good stuff. Knew a guy back in the 70's 's whose gasket had been going for a while leaving a groove in the alloy head. He filled the groove with Araldite and it lasted for years.

Just wondering if new core plugs should be fitted dry or with some kind of sealer (like Indian Head gasket sealer)?

Years ago we used to use a smidgin of red Hermetite on them but they were different - they were domed and were set in place with a firm tap in the centre.
