Some advice on what to do

Post by biker1981 »

Im after some second opions / advice please.

So I have a T25 that's looks ok from a distance but as you get closer you see the paint work is a bit naff. No real rust as I can weld and have replaced panels over the years but prob could have done with more time blending in filler etc. I also painted it myself with my compressor using coach paint. One again looks ok, but never has a shine.

So were at the cross roads. I do all the work myself and normally on a shoe string budget - but I always use good panels and rust prevent, treat etc. Im jealous of the t25 with straight panels and a bit of a shine. also I could do with new window seals. So do i invest in a spray job knowing will prob never get my money back. Also how much would a spray job be - my max budget would be around 2k

any advice appreciated

no answers i'm afraid.

what is the biggest limiting factor? time, money or skill?

If its money, do all the prep yourself and save on the spray job, or save and save.

i'm more jealous of other people getting out and having fun than I am of how straight their van is, a useable reliable van is my priority, I dont worry too much what it looks like.

WHS^
No point having a nice shiny van if the only person that gets to see it is the AA man when he sees it on the hard shoulder.

You sound like you are handy with the welder etc so why not go down the Rustoleum done with a roller , it's alot of work but worth it . You can get a very good finish if you are prepared to work at it .
There have been far too many posts on here about dodgy spray shops doing a "pooh" job.
