Diesel problem

Post by Eloise »

Hi,
Any diesel experts on here?

Got a problem with our jag x type 2.0 ltr diesel. Think it's the mondeo engine type. On part throttle when just maintaining road speed, it it hesitating, if it was a petrol, I would say it was misfiring type of problem, when doing this, there is loads of smoke out the back, presumably this Is un burnt fuel. You can put the foot down and the car picks up as normal, the hesitation stops and the smoke clears, but this is only when accelerating?

The car has just had some work in which a new clutch and flywheel have been fitted, also an idler pulley. No management lights are showing. Car has 158 thou on the clock but is well maintained and usually good to drive.

Any ideas?

Cheers Neil.

If anyone had a guess at diagnosing this one, it was as I suspected, a boost leak. Split in the pipe from intercooler to egr valve. Bugger to get at and had to strip half of the engine down.

Cheers neil
