Re: Where is this water coming from
I think I will redo it in the week one eve after work just to make sure it's all water tight.

Re: Where is this water coming from
water still getting in ! Its not from the wheel arch as I placed stuck down paper on the arch, bone dry.
Two weeks ago I followed instuctions
Water is still getting in bottom left of that area ...where from ? I cant see any other area it could be coming from, Ive not driven in the rain... its not from above ie rear quarter as the insulation is bone dry !
its got to be coming from the hollow pillar by the door
picture from today not much to see granted

just what i said...remove catch, clean out holes as they rust , then instead of a gasket you apply a dollop of sealant over the van body and then place your offending catch back onto the gloop and screw it down ,then wipe away the excess ,job done

Re: Where is this water coming from
That door panel looks a rusty mess - yuck. Going by that I would be pretty sure that a re-spray does not make sense, without having the panels repaired properly behind that cover all of black paint.
If you have water coming in via the inside of the pillar you must have a hole in the roof, probably along the drainage channel. Have you checked that yet?

Re: Where is this water coming from
theres no rust its vactan that I painted in there as a precaution because of the water.
Its also not the door panel its the rear quarter panel.
but the roof drainage makes sense will have a good look.
cheers

Re: Where is this water coming from
I seem to remember that this van was a panel van in Germany. So is that leak below a retro fitted window? If it is then the leak is probably from the window area. More pics please.

Re: Where is this water coming from
I had the same problem. http://forum.club8090.co.uk/viewtopic.p ... 4&start=15" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
The bolt that held on the sliding door latch was loose. Water was flowing down the pillar, meeting with the bolt and then finding its way through the bolt hole then running to the base of the panel. My van was parked up when this was going on. I took of the sliding rail cover and the latch. Cleaned it off, gave a good base of waxoyl then put everything back. No water problems since. Hope this helps. Greetings from Ireland.

Re: Where is this water coming from
Hi thanks for link
I have taken the latch off cleaned area and then put a dollop of seam sealer under the latch and it's still getting wet ! So it can't be that.
Being a tin top it's not the roof I have looked no holes or rust.
It can't be coming from rear quarter as insulation is bone dry.
It's annoying as can't figure it out !!!
help !

Re: Where is this water coming from
So the only way of being sure is to wait till it starts raining and sit inside the van for 30 minutes and watch where it's coming from. Then you can fix it!
Re: Where is this water coming from
I've not had time to get out there but my old friend Mr talcum powder will pay a visit this weekend maybe that will leave a trail for me to follow !

Re: Where is this water coming from
update !
as you can see from the pics I put bits of rolled up paper in these holes, very technical ! Absolutely bone dry with no water damage !
so it can't be coming from the door catch (which I didn't think it was) it also can't be coming off the wheel arch inside as the insulation is bone dry!
so using my NASA training its got to be coming from somewhere else ???? whats underneath ??? could it be flowing/draining from chassis and coming up from somewhere ? TOTALLY CONFUSED and I know you're all thinking Im bonkers !!!! Maybe next week I will take the entire back panel apart and have a good look....
