Thread size long shot

Post by 123-jn »

Does anyone happen to know what thread size is used in the bolts that hold the cooler to the back of the Auto transmission, If not I will have to get one out and measure it before I order my new cooler fittings!!!

I have just had a look on VAG CAT and they are Banjo Bolts...no longer available from VW....See here

http://www.vagcat.com/epc/cat/vw/T2/1982/4/53/58204/#21 No size indicated though

If you cannot see the images you need to either register or login if already a member. Well worth registering because it gives you access to a parts catalog and images anywhere you can get Internet access. Very useful if you break down on a campsite and need to find out which bit you need to order to get you home.

Elsewhere online people have replaced the original cooler with a remote cooler attached by hoses and mounted close to the gearbox. on ome post I found they said
It is a 12x1.5 thread
I cannot verify if this correct.

The part number is
090409067 HOHLSCHRAU 19.95 Euro

Gowesty did an article about the oil cooler here....http://www.gowesty.com/library_article.php?id=305

Thanks nevill3, after looking at another pic on the net I had narrowed it down to probably being M12 by 1.5 or 1.25 but did not dare order on a hunch!!! I have a 15 row cooler and 80 degrees stat but was going to use banjo unions on the gearbox. Unfortunately the M12 ones come with an 9 mm tail as the biggest as far as I can see. The cooler has AN10 fittings with tails that look about 12/13mm. For this reason I need to get adaptor fittings for the gearbox with m12x 1.5 to AN10 and then use a pair of AN10 90 degrees hose tails or use a pair of pre fabricated AN10 hoses.
