Oil breather location....

Post by The Bobdogs »

OK, Despite not having a clue what I'm doing I'm having a go at fitting my dellorto carbs.....so far so good, one is in place and I think I've worked out what goes where....

I need to fit the oil breather, so , where abouts on the rocker cover do I drill to fit the pipe connector? Top...bottom...middle...does it matter?

Where does the shiny metal box that all the pipes connect to need to live? Is the location important or is it just a case of where is convenient to mount it?

Any advice welcome.... :ok

Hi Bobdogs

I fitted Dellortos to my 2.0CU last year to replace the knackered Solexs, they are brilliant. Cant help with the oil breather though, as I have just left the pipe open pointoing towards the back of the engine bay, do intend to fit a small filter at some point but does not seem to throw out very much oil at all.

Good luck finishing off the install, and look forward to the improvement :D

The oil pipe goes into the top of the rocker cover.

I placed my oil breather box at the back of the engine bay, I then just cut a small section of the tinware seal to locate the pipe through:

Hey fellas,

I'm in the process of doing the dell job......is this the bugpack breather box?

http://www.coolairvw.co.uk/Item/Shop_by ... r_Kit.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Is this the empi version and is it any different?!

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VW-EMPI-Engin ... 2578e38f78" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Without having the camper close to me to have look where do the pipes attach? I gather its into the rocker covers but are the connection already there?

Thanks.

No chap, you need to drill them and fit the outlets that come included in the kit, both look like they will do the job to me.
