Building a spare MTDI
Bought a low mileage AHU tdi engine this week and since I have all the conversion stuff lying around I'm building it as a spare unit or to go in my 2wd camper.

It's a Bosch high pressure pump for a Fiat with direct injection (tdi) from the early nineties. The pump has the same shaft diameter, it's plug and play, I do not open the pump. The only thing I changed on the one in my syncro is that I put in a more agressive boost pin in the LDA.

Re: Building a spare MTDI
The number is badly corroded and unreadable. The one to look for is the one with the throttle lever on the opposite side and 21 mm shaft.

Re: Building a spare MTDI
Made some good progress the last few days. Almost ready for a test run on a wooden pallet, I will put on a diesel bellhousing with a starter for that.

Re: Building a spare MTDI
Don't you know that bananas are good for you? I had to eat loads of them in order to empty the boxes so I could put spare parts in them! It's my parts department. I have two more vans, a Karmann Ghia and a Golf Mark II so I hoard spares I find at swapmeets to keep it all running..

Re: Building a spare MTDI
Would you be able to get away with installing an engine like this to your van Jason as from the engine hatch it looks just like a jx.

Re: Building a spare MTDI
Only thing missing is a turbo. Anyone have one lying around? I'm looking for the standard JX turbo, KKK brand (Borg), type K14 with no or minimal play on the turbine..
