Skoda problem

Post by Ian and Lins »

Non van.
Lindsay has a Skoda Fabia. The engine management light is flashing and it seems to be in 'limp' mode. Modern electrics baffle me. Does anyone know a mobile mechanic in the Mansfield Woodhouse/Shirebrook area? We did know a bloke...but the less said about him the better.
Are we going on anything else?

Thanks for the advice.
The problem is getting sorted in a serendipitous way. Lindsay and I were coming back from shopping in the van on Sunday when the oil light came on. Oil level OK, light still on. Oh dear. Well it might just be the switch so rang up Fittapart in Mansfield to see if they had one. Martin (top bloke and very knowledgeable about older vehicles) said they did. I explained I wouldn't be able to get it for a bit 'cause of the Skoda prob. Not to worry, he said he would drop it off when he'd shut up shop...and bring along a diagnostic tool to check out the Skoda!
So I took the oil switch off the van, Martin turned up with a new switch and checked the Skoda (No 4 plug, HT or coil pack). Then put new switch on van (in the pi**ing rain) and all OK with the van now.

I've mentioned Fittapart of Mansfield and Martin before on Club 80-90, but this is outstanding service.
