Upholstery costs

Post by CJH »

Can anyone give me an idea what it should cost to have the three-quarter rock'n'roll bed cushions and the rear mattresses re-foamed and reupholstered? I visited a good local furniture upholstery company, and they estimated £300-£350, with me supplying the fabric, and that seemed a bit steep. Their estimate was based on:

1) Supplying new foam for the rear mattresses, and making zip-on box-section covers to suit, with the two mattresses hinged together along a long edge.

2) Me supplying new ply bases, and them supplying new foam for both parts of the rock'n'roll bed, and then completely wrapping both parts, with cut-outs around the hinges, and velcro closers so they can be removed for cleaning.

Any recommendations for good upholsterers in Nottingham? While I'm at it I might also want the front captain's seats recovered in the same fabric.

That is about right. It will cost you £100 ish for good foam. If you have the seats done then I would get them fully upholstered. They will last for years then.

Have a chat with Mark over in Eastwood, he's in the process of doing my westy joker in the original van dyck fabric.
His number is 07944970730.

I'll do that - thanks for the contact. Eastwood would be very convenient.

I'm sure he does, but you might sound a bit less of a muppet if you use 'Andy with the brown westy' instead! He's in Whitby for the weekend but back mon pm.
