Stubcroft Farm

Stayed at Stubcroft Farm over the B/H weekend. Expensive at £42 per night!
Nice campsite but only 6 showers and not the best i have seen. A few eco friendly toilets (you c**p in a hole) Ok until you disturb the water
Cycle routes to Bracklesham and Witterings.

What was the £42 getting you? A delivered breakfast? Use of the owner's Wife/daughter/sisters

Seriously, I'm not sure how a site can justify a price like that no matter what the season is. Was it for 8 people, a dog, awning, electric?

As long as you enjoyed I suppose that is all that matters

I find a lot of these Eco sites cost a fair bit of money, cheaper to go to a site with swimming pool, club house ect.
I don't get that myself? I still go to the Eco ones, but only for one night

Actually some of them are nice, pricing is stupid though

Heh heh, I think my preferred 'eco' site is a tap in a field costing no more than £5 a night. I never pre-book if I go touring and keep an eye out for farmers signs put out in the holiday season, can often be much nicer and cheaper than commercial sites.

I know what you mean, one of the nicest stops we've had as a family was when we were trying to find a 'wild' spot and was drawing blanks everywhere. Ended up on some narrow single track dead end road that ended with a farm (this was in wales somewhere) Had a hand written sign on a fence saying camping. Fiver for the night, the farmers two kids came out, the daughter took my girl off out on a pony and his son took mine out for a race around on a tractor! Amazing seeing two ten year old controlling some agricultural machinery

Yes you are all correct - it was pricey. It was booked by friends of ours. I certainly would not of paid that much.
No Louey, I did not include a bunk up with the farmers wife/daughter. Sadly

I remember doing a Diesel/veg oil conversion course at a place near Milton Keynes. They had eco everything, solar heating, solar power, compost toilets where the flush was a bucket of sawdust. I think the concept is amazing but some of the stuff is not my cup of tea.

They even weaved their own yoghurt

I think sometimes people take the eco thing too far. How can you 'flush' with sawdust.

The toilet didn't use water, you blocked up the toilet after six months and let the cr@p breakdown for six months before shovelling out from an access hatch. The place had a second toilet next to the first - though only one could be used at any time, so your best buddy wouldn't be sitting next to you reading a camper mag whilst you do the same

Are you taking the van? When we went there, we were able to use the carpark along with approx 100 other motorhomes and only paid for one day/nights parking and we stopped for 2/3 nights. There were free showers too.
