How much for window tinting ?
Im thinking of getting the windows tinted or doing it myself.
I've heard its a nightmare (and i have experience of fitting vinyl to windows in shops so know the downfalls) but am not sure what to do.
I've had a quote of "about 200 quid" for someone to do it in Cambridge but was wondering how much the actual tinted film is - and where do you get it from ?
Any ideas ?
Thanks in advance
Ringo

I own a tint shop in Newcastle and can supply you with the film if you need it. Even if you dont get the film from me dont buy it from a motor factors. It will work on the side windows but not the rear as its curved and you need to shape it to fit the window. Which this film cant do. If your quick my glass is out of the van and I can supply you the film and a rear window cut and shrunk to fit. I would charge around £200 to supply and fit a T25 but only cos I like them if I didnt it would be more. If you use a decent company you should also get a life time warrenty on it. pm me if I can help.

Tish - next day delivery took a week - but i got it on Friday and i have fitted two windows.
It aint perfect - but it looks quite good.
So far, for £20 and two hours of me and the wives time (two hours to go i reckon) its great.
My van isnt going to win anything ever - so this fits the bill. If your trying to get your van tip top, then pay someone to do it.

Just an update to those interested if any....
Doing the tailgate window is pretty damn tricky. We managed to do it (messed up the first time we tried it) but it's not perfect.
I think im going to buy a tailgate window from a show if its cheap and re-do the tinting on the window when its not in situ.
Obviously its better to take the windows out and apply the film in a dust (and pube) free environment - but that would have meant new seals and lots of time!
So, for £25 im quite happy!

Man thats nasty! Nonetheless its amazing where you find the little buggers sometimes though, isnt it?
So how dark are you going? Ill be getting my windows done at some stage and Im not sure how dark I should go. I was thinking just a sort of medium. Not a limo style tint but something which offers a bit of privacy and protection from summer sun. Is reversing a hassle at all with the rear window tinted?

I went for dark smoke - i was going to go for light smoke but thought "whats the point" - may as well go for the look i wanted.
Only problems reversing occur when its dark. And then its a problem. The missus nearly ran me over when i was backing her out this morning.
Maybe i need to rectify the problem with the mother of all reversing lights!
