resto garage near northampton.

Post by moojii »

Hi guys

We have recently bought "kathleen" our 1980 devon pop top. She came with mot till next february but is in a pretty sorry condition, at the very least it needs all 4 arches, door steps, tailgate, maybe doors, round the rear windows and INSIDE the rear windows there is rust. Poptop does not stay up, missing a strut. But, the engine is great, starts first time and ticks over beautifully. Its recently had all new sills and jacking points.

The plan is to run it as is till winter time then find a good local garage that can do a full resto over time.

What i need is suggestions to which garage to use?

What we would like is to find a garage that will keep hold of her and do work up to our agreed monthly budget until the resto is complete...do garages do this??

Any info would be great fully received.

cheers guys and gals :ok

I don't know of any garages that are near you,
but any decent resto place should be able to work around your budget, it just depends on their time scales and customers they have waiting.
I have a few myself that people have requested the same thing you have paying x amount a month.
Being on my own it works better for me being a small business, larger businessess you may struggle to get that with due to the turn around periods.
But it is always worth asking as these things arn't cheap and you never know what hidden horrors you may find.

in hindsight maybe a rolling resto would be easier on the pocket?
get the mot work done...sort the leaky windows....then the cosmetics.

anyone heard of rutland campers in oakham or carls kool campers in brackley?

any more thoughts?
