Depends what the bodywork is like. At a minimum you'd have to sand the entire van before painting. Not sure how the matt black would hold up to weather and scratches? People usually use gloss.

I've done my tow bar in matt black rustoleum, looks fantastic......for 5 minutes before it gets soiled and then it just looks awful. I imagine an entire van would be a nightmare to keep clean.

Anyone have any problems with Rustoleum not sticking over seam sealer?
What I mean is running off it like its oily and not sticking at all - almost as if it is repelling the rustoleum like car polish repels water.
Just sprayed my entire van and in a few places its doing the same thing and only where I put pu seam sealer about a week ago.
Whole van was degreased twice and tack clothed before spraying.

What wax the seam sealer made of.. ?
I know Dintrol polyurethane seam sealer takes combi colour OK rolled on at a dilution of about 10%

Sounds like someone used silicone sealant instead of PU...

It was an automotive polyurethane seam sealer in a metal tube similar to tigerseal.
German brand 4cr. It had cured for about a week and I'd also scuffed it up with scotchbrite.

Does rather suggest contamination though. I have had some "scotchbrite" type pads from an engineering supplier that had some sort of light oily stuff on them from new (maybe an anti-clog product)

Yep it looks like contamination but it's too much of a coincidence that it only happened on seam sealer and on different sides of the van too after wiping down twice with clean cloths and panel wipe. The brand was "cr4" in a black and orange metal tube.
Should have stuck with tigerseal.

I am looking to start rollering my van before winter hits and have few questions which I have searched for but to no avail , firstly is it worth looking for some kind of shelter to cover my hitop T25 whilst I paint it (if there is one big enough ?) secondly I am looking to do a two tone van , top in off white/cream or Ivory and bottom in a deep red /maroon/burgundy ?
Has anyone used any of these colours as I am after a rustoleum code for them if possible photo of your van in the colour , the deepest red colour looks like being number 7365 but cant tell from chart how deep it is and I cant see from the chart a Ivory or cream colour only pure white .

Your common slightly cream/white, known by VW as "Pastel white L90D", is available ready mixed from Avenue Coatings. They are very helpful.

So on the Rustoleum colour chart is that the white with ref no. 7392 or is L90D something completely different , I rang Rawlins today but they were no help at all , I have also tried to find a RAL colour chart but all local paint shops including B&Q never heard of a chart for RAL numbers , If I could find the colour numbers I would not need a chart anyway , there must be hundreds on the forum that have done two tone vans and someone must have done a red I am after , it would help if I could find a local supplier which again is why I rang Rawlins , is Avenue group better if so do I email or ring them for advice ?
Before anyone says about the online chart I have looked through it several times but it varies so much depending on how its viewed that I cant tell the shades on it !
