Re: La Vendée
Hi all
We too are off 'en vacances' to France this summer. Going on the 31 July for 2 weeks but a bit further south in the Landes area - Contis Plage.
Hope you all have a good time. We always have a bet to see how many UK reg T25s we see en route - last 2 years we have only seen 4 each time!!

That is the day we are sailing on Norfolkline at 10.00am. Maybe see you at Dover if that is where you are crossing?

only just noticed the rest of this thread we would also be very interested to meet up with any 80-90ers during our trip and will be heading down the west coast and hopefully along the south coast too!
we are also looking for a french sim with unlimited data for our trip if any of the more experienced members have any ideas?

Re: La Vendée
Too late - am writing this lying in bed on my iPad in the Loire at 'etang de la bretsch' or something ( had too much wine see). Campsite is lovely and so is my lt Florida. We did the south near biaritz , coast beautiful but less to do, and the vended last year which was good with more dependable weather. There's a lot going for France - diesels better value, wine is as cheap as you want and facilities are generally better than uk (accepting there are good sites in the uk but less frequent). There are some lovely sites in the north too, don't be put off and we like the fact we can take the fast cat, 200 quid more, and taking the first ferry be in the Loire for tea.
Come on in -the water is lovely.

Re: La Vendée
Hi Folks,
We just got back from a 2500 km round trip. Dunkirk, Normandy, Brittany, Vendee, Limousin, Alps, Beaujolais, Champagne, Arras, home. Wow. 3 weeks, so enough time, but mucho kms. Loved the Vendee, saw 3 stages of the tour de France in the Vendee area. If you're thinking of doing any serious cycling watch out for the head winds - it's as flat as a pancake.
We stopped 5 days at a campsite at St Hilaire de Riez in the Vendee. Really nice & quiet.
Didn't see hardly any T25's all round France though. Used the France Passion which was really good - came back with some good wine & champers from the vineyards!
Big thanks to Ian who provided mechanical knowledge/support for some minor issues (broken speedo, fridge, oil level query)... by text !!!
Cheers Ian.
I might upload some pics & report if I get time.
Have fun over there.

Re: La Vendée
Hi again.
Sim cards were mentioned somewhere. I've done tons of research, thinking it'd be cheaper to pop a french sim in my phone fo data, but it doesnt look very easy or cheap. I'm going to investigate Three, who worked out ok for Italy a while back, then give up.
Glad to hear France Passion went well, I'm looking to use it for the first time.
As for kids and ton of stuff mine are all under strict orders to limit baggage so we can use Aires and FPassion. We've got one of those Fiamma bags for extra storage, chairs n stuff, to go on the bike rack though.
Got my box of some essential bits from Brickwerks today, just have to finish up at work now!
Sorting out breakdown coverage sucks though, will probably just have to stick with RAC, can't find one off coverage with decent repatriation anywhere!
