your exhaust pipe should be a continuous downward slope - you will get a build up of condensation in that loop hanging down - you could drill a 1/16" hole at the lowest point to allow it to drain.
Manufacturers exhaust for use in a boat when the exhaust has to slope up:
Thanks for the info, i did notice on the original f o r d exhaust part had a drain hole but with it being fitted to a Syncro I have to block the exhaust up when going anywhere near water as its not unknown to see underwater through the windscreen, so didnt want to make any more holes than I had to for water to get in. What you say makes perfect sense and thanks for the heads up, I will see if I can come up with a drainage tap fitting for that part of the system that can be left open when driving normally.

Just wondering as i can easily get the hot air ducting into the van by going up through next to the engine cover (ive got a slighty raised level bed and the ducting can travel underneath that)
The water heating ones although are good arnt really that efficient if used as a heater source. The air blower ones wont take a dunking because no water comes near them inside the van, unlike the coolant ones that are sealed and have water running through them. I did get a coolant one but the water pump was shagged and the fella gave me my money back and I am still going to fit one of these in the future due to them allowing me to run hot water thorough the set up with a heat exchanger tank type thing and the benefit of heating the engine block when I finally get to the north of Norway one winter to see the Northern lights. It will also act as a back up incase the other one shag's and in temperatures as low as -20 for example it could be a life line. The big hole is only the one left behind that I used due to the removing of the big box/underslung ebber that Westfalia fitted that isnt Ideal for our use.

And jed, presume your eber is different to mine? as mine is in metal box fitted to the bottom of van. Liking the silencer as well. Just need one for the fuel pump ticktickticktickticktickticktickticktickticktickticktick
I cant see why you couldnt use one as its only a timer really, though it probably wont sync with the diagnostic codes.

I thought you would struggle to mount one behind rear light (or anywhere sensible in engine bay) due to physical size.
Ii you managed it you then have to route inlet/exhaust for combustion chamber away from wheels/drive shafts etc etc. you then have to put air feeds in so its drawing the air to be heater from inside the van and then pumping it back out into van.(one end of heater will be almost against side panel so hose 60mm hose will have to come out of that end , do an immediate 180 and then find way back to interior of van)
Im guessing it might be possible if you moved battery and used the tray area.I am guessing the hassle and benefits gained make it a non-goer.
Will put some pics up tomoz of where mines gone/going.
v-lux wrote:Ok, that answers that enough for me. Cant put an airblown one behind the light as it'll get wet.
Damn, looks like im gonna have to lose some cupboard space then, and cut a hole in the bottom of the cupboard as well as the van, hhrrmph.
So presumably you have to plug the inlet and exhaust on an eber before you start driving through deep water then if they dont like getting wet?
Yep, the fella I bought mine off has a firm that does ex BT vans and sells the ebbers for a bit of cash in hand £300 for the unit and timer, pump, exhaust pipe (not the exhaust unit) etc at the moment but he usually saves them till winter and sells them on ebay for up to £700 They arnt selling loads of vans at the moment so he is letting a few go now, Alfieboy has just got one too and they are like new. Let me know if you want one and I will go and get one for you if you want Al. They are going for between £380 and £400+ the timer on ebay at the moment I have noticed
Yeah, thats why i asked you t'other day what you had bought from them.
Ive bought a 24v Webasto HL32 off ebay for £100, which i am/was planning to bodge about to work. However i do keep wondering if its going to be counter productive in the long run. £300 for (almost) the complete setup is pretty good going huh....

If you dont buy the right thing you always spend more trying to polish a turd.
Mmm, I've ended up with a 24V one too and a voltage transformer... yet to fire up, bliddy fing
you then have to put air feeds in so its drawing the air to be heater from inside the van
Have to? Can't you use it as a fresh air heater, heating fresh air from oustide, or is that a problem with sealing or efficiency... would you wnat the same air being recirculated and heated all the time?
