Can't see why there are two overturned vehicles...

Presume the flash-flood was so bad they decided to cross-slope along the bank above the track? O-wise cannot imagine how it happened...

That is a terrible thing to happen, and all the more reason to enjoy this pastime in a club environment. In my line of work I have seen a good deal of upside down discoveries, mostly attached to caravans, probably more than any other large vehicle. Too much suspension travel is not a good thing sometimes.

On a lighter note, were any of the vehicles attending petrols, or did the water disuade any from trying, defo made me think twice about going. Mine will cope with the regulation 40cm, but no more.

Yes Doug, we'd like to know about that one... if it's the one I think you were talking about so passionately... our 'one we found' was of the Whaddon quagmire variety, but nevertheless had a very nice avenue track that Al noticed, possibly saving the day... waffle boards a good idea on that one if its been wet!

Here's that standing stone I radioed about 10 seconds after you'd all just driven past it, just in the woods a few hundred yards up the track from the Abbey. More magic than those Strata Florida mushrooms I expect

Just wanted to say how much I enjoyed the weekend. Great to get onto some of the Welsh green lanes - as Clive says, there's magic in those places.

Particular thanks to Aidan & Doug for organising, Clive for constant enthusiasm and advice, and Jenny - how on earth you can patiently navigate all day and still keep smiling is beyond me! Thanks for the pasta Sat night too!

Think I was in a bit of a parrallel universe doing Strata Florida. After the route planning conversation in the pub, I was convinced that we going down Elan Valley, so spent al afternoon thinking we must get to the first reservoir soon. Oh ell, maybe I do need to get a CB to find out where we're going!

Talking of which, could anyone pm me a couple of the route details, start and end points?

Umm. I'm actually more worried about hydraulicing a diesel. Air intake on the doka isn't terribly high.....

eBay search for MOCAL or British make (avoid grey-boxed Chinese copies) - try to get new if poss. 19 row ideally, 1/2 BSP fittings prob. about best (I went mad and used 3/4"). £30 ~ £50 if lucky, they're £100 new... it's the hoses that'll cost unless you can find a tame cash source, about 13.5' and 14.4' required (about!). Air filter is high enough that hydraulicing last thing to worry about if water at rear gets that high (i.e. you'll be stopped in the deep by then anyway)

I dunno - The Dodoka got pretty close at Syncropendance this year driving up that river!

Yeh, I knew that was a somewhat controversial statement, but for Mick at the moment he definitely has other things of more importance to consider, as he's not going deep wading for quite a while I would have thought...

I do think it IS a problem if you happen to slow down in the deep, and stop... wasn't privvy to wading the Dodoka, so not sure how deep it really was... any photos?

VW thought it was OK, similar as far as the WBX and other syncros? We are talking what, if the whole std. system is sealed, 3 foot when stopped, more when making a bow-wave?

Oh, mine's std. so I do commit to keeping going - difflocks, 'G' gear, flat out Worked so far, but plan some filter mods more for dusty conditions than wading
