Salut ! Off to Brittany in a few days, mystic land of Arthur and Merlin.
Anyone know good campsites, near Carnac would be good for a start.
Cheap ferries? We want to go from Portsmouth to Caen or Cherbourg.
Thanks,

Doubt you'll find any cheap ferries on the western channel routes!

Would also think you might not get on a ferry unless you've prebooked. We went with Brittany Ferries from Portsmouth to St Malo back at the end of June and we booked in January and it was packed!

THe driver from St Malo to Carnac is about 2 hours........we stayed a bit further up the coast from there............this is the site

Its a nice small one, with few thrills, but is good for Quimper, Brest, loads of beaches, Carnac and other places too.

drop me a PM if you have any questions :D

If you don't always need a campsite you could use the Aire du Campings. The one in Carnac is a huge carpark with water facilities in the town centre - it usually will have loads of large motorhomes there, but its FREE!!!

Hi,Thanks for replies. We've settled for Portsmouth-Cherbourg with Brittany Ferries.Expensive but I don't want the extra driving or overnight crossing this time.
For future referenceI found a great deal with Condor,Ports-Cherbourg for£109.return. but last crossing was last sunday!
