Re the gas adjusting valve ( aka "Power Valve" )
Has anyone had a play with this lil brass number ?
I turned mine down 1/2 a turn and didn't notice much difference.
Is it possible to go too lean on the mixture and damage summat, like you can on petrol ?
I understand if you open it up you get more power, but can it go too rich and give similar symptoms to a rich petrol engine ?
Can plug colour be used like on a petrol engine ?
When you turn it down the power will fall away most noticable on gradients
When you turn it up the power returns
Turning it to low and the engine wont "pick up" and rocks
Too far up and it will hunt or crob..throb.
There's no free carbon when LPG burns so soot will not deposit on the plugs.
try it at different settings preferably over the same course and try to include a steep hill
I've noticed that my range of usable adjustment is approx three quarters of a turn from weak or no power
Seems wierd that performance is relative to the gas fill.
Went to Wales and re filled at a Shell ££££ Garage.....backfiring all the way for the next fifty and eventually turned back the mixture to richen it to be able to cope with t'hills. Ran the tank empty ....re-filled at a non corporate supplier and now running like a dream...even after resetting mixture to 'economy'.
What can be in gas other than gas? Water maybe... but not sure what else methanols mix with, other than orange juice and eye sight problems.
Distant cousins...Theres a limited supply,
We're down to the dozens and this is why...

I seem to remember Steve ( Gasure ) who does the LPG convertions up this way told me summat about a water trap, that on his systems doesn't need to be drained as it sends the small amounts of water continuously ( and harmlessly ) through the engine. Perhaps you did get a fill of "wet" gas ?
That's oil in the LPG you loon not water , when did I ever mention water traps, never!!!! it traps the oil and bvurns it safely through the inlet tract.

had mine done today and i've done 60miles and wanted to see what the score was so filled up and i put just over 10 litres in. felt like a tight wod paying a 5er in the garage lol. dunno what mpg is. bout 28???
I've just taken the gas kit off my 1.9DG camper (standard roof) after 8 years and almost 100,000 miles. Recent averages have been about 10p/mile, which is about 20mpg. I could get 23-24mpg on a gentle tour in Europe or 18mpg on a thrash to the Lakes on the M6. Performance seemed little different on gas or petrol.
The kit is now going on my Syncro 2.1DJ, which is a much more powerful van. I'll be interested to see what pence per mile works out at on this vehicle..
I only got 180 miles from 54 litres in full tank - 5 miles too few to make it to the LPG station as there was so little LPG near vanfest.
Now it won't re-engage.
Going to try Mocki an t'onion's advice and see if I can ge it going, then book i in with Gasure too - hopefully not too long as potrol is pricey and she backfires really really badly!
