adding USB charging points to a T25

Post by cedricuk »

hi everyone
i was wondering how people have added usb charging points to their campers. do you normally connect them to the leisure battery or use the starter battery?
i can see how it would be handy for charging phones when parked up but you would not want to find the starter battery flat the next morning.
is it best to use a switched supply or just fit a socket with a low standby draw?
interested to hear how people have set theirs up.

The ones on the dashboard I wired to the main battery and they come on with the ignition (Mostly for phone charging), The ones in the back are on the leisure battery, My plan is to put in an isolator so the electrics in the back that all run on the leisure battery can be switched off for when it's parked with nobody in.  Hope that gives you some ideas.

that sounds like a sensible setup. having the front ones come on with the ignition should help avoid draining the starter battery, and the rear ones on the leisure battery are handy when parked up. an isolator for the rear electrics sounds like a good idea too.

I swapped the 12v charger in the dashboard for this. It has an on/off switch

Add a fuse tap to add another circuit, add a toggle switch.

look at sir adventure website. Covered to death here years ago.

I also added a rear. Upgraded the rear fuse box and added to the vent on my fridge.

I got a usb charger with Voltmeter with integrated on off switch.
