QuikLift?

I’m planning an autumn and winter of work on my T25, much of which will be around new bushes for the suspension, brake servicing, replace fuel lines, new stainless front to aft plumbing for the cooling system etc. and have been giving thought to options for jacking and support. One is to use a Quik Lift of Quick Jack (possibly only available in the USA):

The system, notably the higher weight capacity jacks, look ideal for lifting and supporting the van, keeping it nice and square whilst working on and around the wheels, hubs, brakes and some underneath work with the plumbing. Has anyone any experience of using these lifting systems? They have safety catches to lock the jacks, CE certification and should be safe.

Over at ‘thesamba.com’ there are several threads discussing the Quick Jack lifts , and many photographs of T25’s/vanagons being lifted using the system. This is essentially the same as the QuikLift and Sealey lifts marketed in the UK. I think I’m going to give it a go and see how I get on. Expensive but over the years will probably pay for itself in reduced garage bills etc.

The viable lifting points for a T25 are far from straightforward, and you certainly wouldn’t be advised to lift them by the sills like most of the generic images associated with this product seem to show.

I’d be interested to see how Samba Vanagon owners have been using these. Most of the jack posts I’ve seen on there involve some form of bottle jack.

and the associated photographs. According to one user the Quick Jack sits perfectly on the factory recommended lifting points.

Okay. I’m not convinced they’d be so great. You’d need to have additional secondary pads / stands at each end of the lifting platforms to pick up the van at the recommended lifting points, and although you’d get good access to the wheel wells you’d be faced with severely constrained access to the whole mid section of the van underneath due to the location of the lift itself
