Rear brake hose length

Post by ZsZ »

I just replaced my 15yr old brake hoses as a preventative maintenance (might be a bad idea with todays part quality).

The new rear hoses are a bit longer than the old ones not much but they are almost touching the crossmember. Did not measure, I would say the difference is about a centimeter.

The new ones are LPR branded hoses, 171611775A reference nr, 180mm long nominal. Checked ETKA and it show two partnrs 171611775 160mm and 171611775A 180mm. I will check the old ones for length. I cannot remember what brand they were.

Is there a reason to go with the shorter one? Worth changing them? Why VW switched length? Part availability?
