1.6 JX tappets

Post by dcworm57 »

Just getting ready to check and set the tappets . I wanted to check on here because it’s not clear in the Bentley manual.
So from the cambelt end is the valve sequence as follows

inlet/exhaust/inlet/exhaust/inlet/exhuast/inlet /exhaust .

thanks

Its symmetrical about the mid point, so doesn't matter which way your looking at it.

you wont be able to set them unless you have specialist gear and a stack of spare shims, you can check them easily enough

Screenshot from the JX service manual.
I would have made more sense if the had used 'E' for exhaust!

SyncroAndy has the injection system manual. If you need the main engine manual I have a PDF version that I can forward.

Now I know the correct sequence of the valves I have measured all the clearances again tonight , and I don’t believe it but they are all within tolerance . I’m very surprised. Thanks for all the messages of help .
