The high top you have is aftermarket so much easier to remove and luckily it’s sound underneath

You can cut a much bigger hole

out too

Where can I get these? Been looking online all night with no luck, only ones for T2's which I have no idea if they will fit. To be honest I'll leave the hole the size it is just as its already pretty large.

Will see if I can find the info

They’re fairly straightforward to fit , I’ve retro fitted a few Westy roofs , I find the easiest way to align everything is to get the front latch in , that’s partly why you need to trim the roof hole , the latch goes through the front roof reinforcing

I'll get square frame on, I haven't got the Genuine Westy frame just a welded flat bar one but ill get that and the latch in first. Going sand the Roof back and hit it with some paint just to get a nicer finish up there and to avoid any where where there are tiny stops of surface rust first as I cant do much without them supports.

Also ordered the brackets for the front tub from Camper Van Culture But they are Out until the 21st so hopefully they arrive in time too. Will get the rear three located and bolted to get the roof on so once they're here it should be simple

Last night feel's like I didnt get much done, but I treated any little spots of rust with some Kurust and got any of the silicone off the roof and out of the gutters, tonight is a night off due to the Mrs graduating from Uni. So will be back at it tomorrow with the orbital sander and getting a nice base to lay some paint onto. The roof is in really good condition considering its age and how the high roof has been on there, its now just filling the time with jobs I probably wouldn't have done otherwise.
Once sanded I'm going to measure and pre drill any holes that are required for the pop top and bed frame to get some paint to seal the holes off and avoid a future rust point.
I was hoping I'd have enough time to prep and paint the pop top before my trip but thats something I'd rather do after with it being exposed to the elements so would personally rather give it some time to cure before taking her out on the road.
I'm going to pull the brackets and H bar's off and get them powder coated black hopefully before I set off if I can get them off this evening in between the celebrations. The tent is also sat in some black Dye as there were some stains from prior mould that was refusing to wash out.
I wouldn't mind swapping the sky light out for something abit fresher aswell and am missing the winder so think that will be a job for today to find both.
Once that's done atleast the roof of the van will be all sorted... just the remaining 90% of the van to go after...
