1.8T Sump Bolt Access

Post by Vaughanylive »

I’ve got a 1.8T converted Syncro (AUM stamped block, but cable throttle) with a custom mild-steel sump made by whoever did the conversion. The paint has flaked off and I thought, easy, I’ll just undo the sump bolts, shot blast and repaint it.

I had a better look and the flange of my sump disappears into the bell housing and some of the bolts are hidden behind the plate and flywheel  pictures below:

Anyone come across this?? Guessing the only way to remove the sump is to split engine from gearbox??

…or just paint it where it is and worry about it another day!

I see there’s some sump adaptors to use a JX sump with a 1.8T, anyone got any experience of them?

Thanks!
