Pierburg 2E3 replacement

Post by Bazil »

Good morning all,
I hope someone can point me in the right direction.
I need to replace my old and very worn Pierburg 2E3 carb on my VW T25 camper, (1990).
I am struggling to find a replacement, or someone to take it and fully refurb it.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
Andy

I have just spoken to the chap who was excellent and gave me superb advice, however, he has suffered some health issues and is unable to assist at present. He did state that a full strip down is the answer to see what's going on and also suggested that the pierburg is the best carb for this job, avoiding a change to a brosal or weber.
Are there any other options? Would a full rebuild kit be worth trying?

They are easy enough to replace the gaskets and clean out. The only thing you might struggle with is if you have worn bushes on the accelerator shafts that might cause air or fuel leaks.
Just if you remove the 02 screw make sure you make note of how many turns in / out it is.

These guys are ok but won’t test it on a known good working vehicle, like Bromyard.
