T25 front lower ball joint and top wish bone ball joint.

Post by dazzerT251900td »

Hi Everyone.
I’am going to attempt to replace front upper wishbone ball joints and lower ball joints, but struggling to find quality ones around.
Can anyone tell me about the febi ones and if they are worth fitting or shall I wait .I’am still passing the MOT every year with my T25 Westfalia at the moment.
kind regards Darren.

It is a bit hard to get good ones
On lower ball joints AFAIK nowadays only the TRW (and the special T3 technique available at Brickwerks) have the correct machined caps.
On uppers the Lemforders had wrongly spaced bolt holes in some batches a few years ago, not sure where are they nowadays. Febi might be OK on those.

If they are fine then no need to change them.

Monroe branded lower ball joints L2989 available from Autodoc fit just fine, only had them on 4 months so can't say how long they will last, but for the money they seem good value, boots looked thicker than some, I ordered TRW but they didn't actually have any stock of them, sent these instead, since I was buying Monroe dampers they figured that was acceptable brand to me, I had ordered 4 but they only sent 2 and refunded the other pair :ok

In the sheer lack of lemforde available, I've opted for bilstein ones (lowers)
