Just recommisioning van after lay up front hand brake cable needs renewing can this be done with fuel tank still in situ 2.o cu danbury

Just done mine. It's the guide bush that's pressed into a bracket above the tank that's the issues but that's only the front part. Rear part is fully accessible from below. So if replacing front. It's tank out I'm affraid.

Cheers for advice so from handbrake in cab to rear balance bar it's a tank out job

clean up the earth point for the fuel sender and check/replace breather hoses whilst you are there

It's not usually too bad of a job to remove the tank, just get as much fuel out of it as you can. As well as making sure the breathers are all good, While it's off the van it's worth giving it a good clean out, too. Just sloshing it round an rinsing out with old petrol will do.

The quality of rubber components nowadays is very poor, so don't just put new stuff on for the sake of it. The 30 year old stuff might have ten years left in it, but the new stuff you fit will turn to mush in five!

Hello,

If you are going to take the tank out...

As you are on a CU, consider changing the hot air feed that goes over the tank and on to the front. The flexy tube has foam inside which may have collapsed thus restricting air flow.
