Cold start cable routing

Post by chalkywoods »

The fuel pump on my AAZ fitted by previous owner has a cold start lever but it has never been hooked up. I've got all the parts but it's not obvious where I should route the cable at the front. Is the handle usually fitted to the right of the steering wheel? (RHD) Should there be holes for the cable behind the dashboard or would these be missing since the body was originally air-cooled petrol?

Cheers

My aaz doesn't have the cold start connected and it's never been a problem, even during the winter.
I do have the handle in place

Why bother? You shouldnt need to use it in the UK unless the outside temperature is -5° or below.

Luckily just spotted a 3l Subaru build thread which shows the handle is actually on the left of the wheel

I'm often staying at altitude in the UK so I have had to start a few degrees below 0 in winter. Will be heading off for a year in Europe in the next few weeks and I don't know where or when I will end up, my friend with a t25 did similar last year and struggled at -20 in Norway

Will also be adjusting pump timing this week so should be doing better on the starts anyway, but I'd like to have the option
