Fuels

Post by kentishvanman »

Normally run on lpg but have not got any on board at the moment. Am having trouble nowadays locating garages with an E5 fuel pump.
Anyone had any problems running on E10?
Sorry if this has been raised before but could not find.
Thanks

E10 has been used all over the world for many years. It's fine in a T25, but E10 will speed up the degradation of older rubber fuel hoses.
They're probably knackered anyway, so in short spend £40 on some E10 proof fuel lines from brickwerks and you'll be fine.
If you have a 2.1 DJ then make sure the timing is set at 5 degrees if you're using lower octane fuels.

E10 will be ok short term, dont run on it unless you have to , and dont leave the van stood with e10 in the tank , its much more hygroscopic than e5 and will mess the seals up in the carb faster than e5 , and as said above rubber fuel pipes
I wouldnt bother charging your timing , it’s unlikely you DG was set for solely running on LPG anyway

Thanks for that.
Forgot about the carb rubbers. Changed the fuel hoses when E5 arrived. Not sure if they are E10 proof?
What with the shortage of lpg and E5..................getting too old for all this
