Coil

Post by kentishvanman »

Just a thought.
Does the coil performance lessen over the years? I look at mine and think 'that must be on the point of giving up'. It is the original [1987] and performance is ok
Just wondered.

Not 100% sure about coils but when I discovered my HT leads to be (very) in need of replacing (see pic!) I decided to order new leads, new dizzy cap and new rotor arm, as a bit of googling suggested change them every 30,000 or so. Opinion on coils seemed to vary between 50,000 to 100,000 to "only change it if you think it is not working well". On the basis I'm not a fan of standing by the roadside I decided to also get a new coil. Whole lot was £120 and my plan is to keep the old bits, all joined together, as 'hot spares' in case.
