radiator fan wiring

Post by philmcC »

In the middle of replacing the radiator fan on my 2.1 W BX van. Have dropped radiator and removed the cowl . The wiring to the back of the old fan was two red wires to one post, and  and an off white wire to the other. The new fan I've got from brickwerks has three wires, a red wire with a black stripe, a red wire, and a brown wire. Any ideas of how I should wire it up. ATB Phil

Yes I do have the relay and the fuse is okay. The radiator fan just stopped working and I had a problem with overheating. I guess it could be the radiator fan switch at the radiator. When I powered up the fan separately it made a rumbling noise and didn't go very quickly.
It's the three leads from the brickwerks fan that confuse me I think the fan I've taken off must have been original it had the two takeoff pipes which I understand were never used. Phil
