Re: Cylinder head studs
You need to explain exactly what you are trying to do and why, petrol or diesel engine, flat four or inline four ?, it may well be a better bet to take the job to a machine shop who will have suitable tools and access to suppliers for good quality tools if they need something specific and odd

Re: Cylinder head studs
Tapping out all the head nut threads is always good practice, that way they torque up correctly withput hanging up on any corrosion or sealant muck.
M10 x 1.5 i.e. standard M10 coarse pitch.
The studs will either be perfect or pitted...then the fun starts!

Re: Cylinder head studs
The case end of the head studs are M12x1.5 however...they rarely come out without a fight and there is a fair bit of risk involved.
Inspect them for pitting before even thinking about removing them, if they do need renewing then you will be into a full stripdown in order to heat the case with a propane lamp one half at a time (securely held down) then using a 1/2" drive self-tightening chuck type extractor you *may* be able to remove them.
Irs no picnic and they can sometimes snap off halfway out or just refuse to budge, then twist or bend...
