Should this be a turbo oil return line?
Hunting oil leaks and found that a hose between the turbo and oil sump is cracked and dropping some oil I think. Was going to crack on and replace this hose, but came across the turbo oil return line on bw.
Should this hose actually be a metal pipe?
Does it make much difference if so?
Could this be the reason I'm not convinced my turbo is fully working? (Pretty slow van -tops out at 50mph and sluggish up hills)
The hose has been there the whole time I've owned the van... Obviously doesnt mean it's right!

What RPM are you changing up gears ? Turbo comes if pretty high up the Rev range , you gotta Rev it fairly high for full boost

Not certain what the number would be as don't have a rev counter, but I think to the top of the range really from how it feels.

Regarding your lack of boost, you should check your LDA is holding pressure, and is actually connected to the inlet manifold. I’ll dig out some photos.

So this post refers to the spigot on the inlet manifold that provides the boost pressure. And further down refers to how to check the LDA is holding pressure. Bernd Jager in Germany sells new LDAs, and I think Brickwerks do too. There was also a thread a wee while ago about repairing the LDA with a new diaphragm.

As to the oil return pipe, see here :-
https://brickwerks.co.uk/product/turbo- ... -1-6td-jx/
It has a flexi section.
Not to be confused with the oil feed pipe:-
