I'm replacing my rear brake back plates. Do the pivot points come out of the originals or is it all one piece with the casting? I thought they might be tricky to get out but none of them shows any signs of budging despite a lot of soaking in oil.
I'd like to reuse if possible, new ones seem ridiculously expensive. £15 each?!

Re: Brake shoe pivot points
they should come out but are often so corroded in place that plus gas and heat repeatedly still fail to loosen them and if you put a bar in them and try and twist them to free then then the ears break off as they aren't that hard
Re: Brake shoe pivot points
I'll let them soak a while longer.
An interesting discussion here on using T2 adjusters wound fully in which are then the same size as the T25 pivots (but £15 for a set of four)
