Manifold to exhaust gasket connection

Post by gutmeg »

1984 Holdworth pop top 1.9 petrol
Hi Everyone, looks like a typical holiday getaway weather coming our way, so out in vans not so great.
I am asking about the exhaust connection manifold/exhaust connection, as I have had liquid metal / high temp seals applied on a  number of occasions by me and when van has been serviced in the past.  None have worked as a permanent solution. The garage some time ago said that the only thing would be to fit gaskets which means dismantling the exhaust and manifold sections of the pipework, with the fixing bolts to block having to be removed and the potential for breaking. This I am told could be an expensive solution, if anyone has any thoughts on this or an alternative solution I would be very greatful for any advice/ replies. The van is becoming a bit noisy now and I guess will get worse, so I will have to do something soon, even if it is a good temporary measure.
Thanks in advance for any advice/ replies/ info etc. Regards
