“Above or below, who knows where the o-ring goes” - kinda rhymes, but that doesn’t help.
Anyone?

Is the black wire that shares sleeving with red 12V feed (hedgehog/carb heater/choke) for the carb solenoid? If not, where do you get the carb solenoid feed from? Thanks.
Well, it comes on and on with ignition so I’ll use it

Air lines are on and clutch slave pipe. Rigged up a temp fuel supply but starter motor not engaging when I turn the key, so I’ll get into that next. But good progress today, nearly...

When this relay lever is engaged I’ve got all the gears but the ball keeps popping out. The rubber boot is shot, but is this all it needs to prevent it popping out?

Re: 1990 Singlecab II
Ball should definitely stay put without the rubber boot. Check the rod bush carrier (right below the selector ball) is pushed up far as it will go, the two bolts into the gearbox housing are slotted for adjustmentDoubleOSeven wrote:When this relay lever is engaged I’ve got all the gears but the ball keeps popping out. My coil reads:
Primary 1.1 Ω (stand alone leads were 0.1)
Secondary 2.9k Ω
Primary looks out of spec. but would this cause no spark?

It’s not no. I’ve had the dizzy out so I’ve no idea where it is, timing wise. But it should still spark, just won’t be at the right time. I’ll try a few things tomorrow and report back. Getting close ...

Re: 1990 Singlecab II
mine was 180 degrees out and was just turning over. Adjusted and she went straight away - keep us updated mate.
Think I have another coil you can try if needs be!

Holding pin was missing so no magnetic field being created.
...but alas, this isn’t the problem. Still no spark.
However, it can only be one or a combination of these things though; coil, distributor, my re-wired loom. The coil is second hand, the distributor - I’ve changed the hall sensor, the wiring - I made myself! I’ll test the ignition amplifier while I’m at it and check the coil is actually getting 12V.
Procedures are in the Bentley manual, page 28.36
