Let get some prespective here. Switzerland is a fabulously weathly country with a very high standard of living. Even minimum wage is twice (l think) the UK's. So naturally everything costs more to buy and do. Including cost of living, property and transport.
In it's own world it works very efficiently.
It is a bit like the waiter we starting talking to in Turkey 1983. He asked how much for a pack of Marlboro cigarettes in UK? I told him. He jumped back and said he will stay in Turkey now.
This. Completely and utterly this...
Average salary (yes, average) in my canton is 100k CHF.
Everything is more here.
Beef is 100chf per kg, labour is 80-100CHF an hour for gardeners - the list goes on.
It takes a long time to get used to it, and I still haven't completely. But I am trying...
I am very lucky to have a clever wife who has a nice job.
Anyway. I have a new (old) engine! and it works. Yay!
Been out for another drive this morning and it all feels fine. Pulls much better from lower revs, and that clutch is lovely (as it bloody well should be).
Off to Lugano for the weekend.
